
The number of books fighting extremist thoughts increased at Erbil International Book Fair. Iraqi Minister of Culture Farid Rwandzi said that Daesh is military eliminated and the next phrase is to fight radical thoughts they trying to make people adopt them , adding that these groups have strategies focus on the educational side of the people ,that is why the visitors of the book fair were happy to see moderate books are available.
300 printing and publishing institutions are taking part of this year fair, 40 are Kurdish, 12 Iraqi, 4 European and some of other Arab countries. The fair will last 10 days, displaying religious, scientific, historical and fiction books along with a variety of different fields.
A session about Women Writers workshop that was organized by the parliament and the German Foreign Ministry, was held ,where Iraqi writer Negm Wali talked about writing techniques, and mentioned the previous workshops. Each workshop has at least 20 female participants from all over Iraq, who talked about how these workshops affected them and give them the opportunity to enter this field. Wali highlighted those trainees’ efforts and their interest in writing and reading, despite the differences in age and education which made the workshop succeeded.
The second seminar under the name “Art in the field of translation: Challenges and fortunes of literature in the transitional period” discussed the problems literature faces during transitional periods and gathering some examples and translate them. Writer, Abdullah Sakhi signed his book in presence of some intellectuals, journalists and some readers. He talked about his threesome and said that the Iraqi person in his last novel transformed from just a refugee into an unknown international maze.
He tried to confirm that he tried to build a small Iraq through his works ,and the best element in his threesome is the Iraqi woman, who he likened it to a legend, saying that she is extraordinary with super powers. He added that he is a simple person but has a heart of fire, and he does have any special methods that he follows while writing.
