The Saudi National Day reception in Berlin, hosted by the Royal Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Germany, saw Siemens showcasing itsingenious energy technologies and solutions for Saudi Arabia. With hundreds of guests making their way into the ballroom of the Adlon Kempinski Hotel in downtown Berlin, the event provided an ideal opportunity to highlight the company’s milestones within the Kingdom. Looking back at a history of over 85 years in the Kingdom, and as the only exhibitor at the evening reception, Siemens was uniquely positioned to informthe Saudi Ambassador to Germany, HE Dr. AwwadAlawwad, and the guests about its expanding local footprint and initiatives that confirm the strong partnership with the Kingdom and its society.

Dr. Alawwad welcomed the dignitaries and high level representatives from politics and the private sector to the 86th Saudi National Day reception and highlighted the 80-year collaboration with Saudi Arabia, and German companies in Saudi Arabia. He underlined Siemens’ first “Made in KSA” gas turbine as a key milestone in the strong partnership with the Kingdom and in line with the Saudi Vision 2030.

The first “Made in KSA” gas turbine was recently built at the Siemens Dammam Energy Hub (SDEH), a milestone that resonates with the spirit of celebrating the Saudi National Day, fully in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. The first shipment of the locally produced turbines left the factory in Dammam and travelled more than 1,500 km to their new home at the Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle power plant in Jazan.

The company’scontinuously expanding local footprint has leveraged opportunities to further increase the "In-Kingdom Total Value Add” (IKTVA) in line with the goals of the Saudi Vision 2030. Together with its long-term partners, E.A. Juffali& Bros., Siemens is jointly developing and strengthening local supply chains, especially within the scope of its manufacturing and service operations.

The Saudi National Day commemorates the founding and unification of the Kingdom under the leadership of The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud. The unification marked the beginning of an era of prosperity in Saudi Arabia evidenced by the discovery of oil, the strengthening of political and economic relationships with many countries as well as the increasing regional and global importance of the Kingdom.

ArjaTalakar, CEO of Siemens Saudi Arabia, attended the reception and said, “We congratulate the Kingdom on this special day and are proud to celebrate with our partners and friends. Siemens has been at home in the Kingdom for over 85 years and the announcement of the Saudi Vision 2030 drives our passion towards developing local capabilities and achieving sustainable local value add in a diversified economy. What is important to the Kingdom matters to Siemens and we are looking forward to jointly shape a prosperous future.”
