US aerospace giant Boeing and Brazil's Embraer said Thursday they were in talks "on a possible combination" but cautioned that there was no guarantee of a deal.

Any transaction would need to be approved by the Brazilian government, among other parties, the companies said in a joint news release that followed a news report saying Boeing was discussing a possible acquisition of Embraer.
