German court agrees to hear Peruvian's climate case against RWE

A German court ruled Thursday that it would hear a Peruvian farmer's case against energy giant RWE over climate change in the Andes.

Saul Luciano Lliuya's case against RWE, demanding the firm pay a share of the cost of flood defences for his home threatened by melting glaciers, was "well founded", judges at the superior regional court in the northwestern city of Hamm found.
