Iranian director Kiarostami dies in France at 76: report

Acclaimed Iranian film-maker Abbas Kiarostami has died at the age of 76 in France following a battle with cancer, the Iranian news agency ISNA reported on Monday.

Kiarostami, who won the coveted Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1997 for "Taste of Cherry", left Tehran last week to undergo treatment in France, ISNA said, adding that his death had been confirmed by Iran's House of Cinema.
