Chief of Pakistani international university has underscored the need for enhancing level of academic cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran. Speaking to IRNA, Rector, National University of Modern Languages (NUML), Dr. Aziz Ahmad Khan called for promoting people to people interaction between Iran and Pakistan. After a speech contest on great Iranian poet Sa’di Shirzai at NUML he said Sa’di is the true source of light of wisdom for the whole world. “We had glorious past and these types of programs can be very helpful in reviving our past glory,” Dr. Aziz said. “We must organize more programs on Sa’di so that our coming generations could benefit from his thoughts and impact on poetry.” He was of the view that it is the responsibility of educational institutions to promote cultural activities between Iran and Pakistan. “They have an extremely important role,” he added. NUML chief called for enhancing cooperation between the universities of Iran and Pakistan. He said Pakistan and Iran are two nations but share same values. “We are one community.” He said: \'We must promote people to people interaction between Iran and Pakistan and universities can play a vital role in this regards.\' Dr. Rashida Hassan, head of NUML Persian Department expressing her views said that Iran and Pakistan have a long history of cordial and friendly relations and people of both the countries share same sentiments for each other. She lauded the efforts of Iranian Culture Center for arranging different cultural programs. The researcher said Sa’di is recognized not only for the quality of his writing, but also for the depth of his social thought. “We can understand each other in a better way through close cultural cooperation,” she said. Dr. Rashida Hassan believed that cultural activities can bring people of Iran and Pakistan close to each other. She was of the view that cultural programs can also be very helpful in removing differences between the two brotherly nations, if any. From : Islamic Republic news agency
