Tunisian National guard

Research and Inspection Unit of Tunisian National guard arrested extremist cell in the governorate of Bizerte. Sources revealed that the cell is composed of five elements between the ages of 25 and 35. The arrested elements have involved before in a number of cases, as four of them received judicial sentences.

A number of them have strong relations with imprisoned elements accused of participating in terrorist attacks. The Tunisian prosecution decided to imprison the extremist elements pending investigations and to refer them to trial in accusations of joining extremist cell.

Sources said that the extremist cell is not the first of its kind to be dissolved in this area in which a large number of extremists exist. The security forces managed to dissolve the extremist cell planning to establish Islamist emirate in the Tunisian governorate. The cell took steps to control the area through forming extremist units to replace the security forces.

The sources raised the citizens’ refusal to these units, considering them as a clear threat against the security and stability of their cities. They called the security authorities to bear their responsibility and to protect them from these extremist groups which commit violations against the laws and legislations.
