Pope Tawadros II

Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria, on Sunday chaired a Palm Sunday Mass at the Orthodox Church in Alexandria as part of the Orthodox Church celebrations of Easter Feast .

A Coptic source at Saint Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Alexandria said that the Pope arrived at the cathedral at 5:30 am amid strict security and organizational procedures, and that he would lead the mass at 6:30pm.

The source added that the Pope would leave shortly after a spiritual sermon during the Mass.

Meanwhile, Security Directorate of Alexandria under Lt General Mostafa el Nemir have secured the Cathedral premises and its surroundings and traffic routes were changed to ease the Copts access to the cathedral. 

Saint Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Alexandria is witnessing tight security measures in line with the arrival of Pope Tawadros II to the city.

Dozens of vendors of palm frond artifacts lined the Cathedral street in Alexandria on Saturday night to sell it to the Copts while attending the prayers.
