Qumra will See 34 Film Projects Participate This Year

Doha Film Institute (DFI) announced today that 34 film projects from 25 countries will be involved in Qumra initiative.
The aspiring filmmakers will receive guidance and training through master classes, meetings, and screenings. The announcement was made on the sideline of DFI's participation in the Berlin International Film Festival.
Filmmakers of 18 feature films, seven documentaries, and nine shorts will take part in a six-day program that teaches them all aspects of filmmaking as well as marketing it internationally. The efforts of Qumra this year will be on supporting aspiring filmmakers in the post-production phase.
The Qumra masters participating this year are Asghar Farhadi, Bruno Dumont, Rithy Panh, Lucrecia Martel, and Paulo Branco. Farhadi is an Iranian filmmaker who won the Golden Bear for his film A Separation. Dumont is another award-winning director, who won the Grand Prize of the Jury at Cannes for Flanders.
Filmmakers of 23 of the 25 participating films have graduate one DFI program or another. Three of the films have received finance from the Qatari film fund. A total of six Qatari filmmakers have been selected to take part in this year's program.
