French Ambassador in Cairo Andre Baran

French Ambassador in Cairo Andre Baran has hailed growing relations between Egypt and his country, praising Egypt's efforts to resolve the problems that face French business sector in Egypt.

Addressing "two decades of Egyptian-French relations" conference at Bibliotheca Alexandrina on Monday, the French diplomat said cooperation between the two countries became stronger after 2014, especially following President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's visit to Paris and French President Francois Hollande's visit to Egypt. 

Baran mentioned a number of agreements signed between the two countries in the economic and security domains to promote relations, pointing out to joint projects in the underground metro and Alexandria tram. 

The French diplomat said his country plays a key role to resolve the Palestinian problem, pointing out that Paris is aware of the threats that beset the region and called for more cooperation between the two countries to face such threats.

He said the Egyptian people are interested in learning the French language, referring to French institutes in Cairo which teach French, including the French University in Cairo and the French Institute, as well as Université Senghor d'Alexandrie.
