The Imam of the Grand Mosque in the Senegalese city of Kaolack Sheikh Tijani Ali Cisse lauded the role played by Al Azhar in spreading the moderate teachings of Islam in Africa and the whole world.
He further expressed his appreciation to efforts exerted by Al Azhar Grand Imam Sheikh Ahmed el Tayyeb in enhancing international peace.
These remarks came during a meeting between Cisse and el Tayyeb on Monday.
He was accompanied by the Senegalese ambassador in Cairo.
Cisse hailed the scholarships provided by Al Azhar to Muslim Senegalese students.
For his part, el Tayyeb underlined that Al Azhar supports Muslims all over the world in the educational and preaching domains, especially the Senegalese, to spread the tolerance of Islam and the culture of dialogue as well as moderation.
He further reiterated that Al Azhar is ready to train scientific Senegalese cadres and receive the non-Arabic speakers to study the Arabic language at Al Azhar.
