Russia rebuilding military airfields in Vietnam, Pacific Islands

Russia is rebuilding its Soviet-era network of airfields in Vietnam and the northwestern Pacific island of Matua, the country’s former Air Force Commander Army Gen. Pyotr Deinekin was quoted by Sputnik news agency as saying.

"Our aviation is going through a major overhaul, the defense industry is working on next-generation warplanes.

The airfield network is being rebuilt not only in the Arctic, but also abroad in Vietnam, on the Pacific islands, and in Syria," Gen. Deinekin told RIA Novosti.
