Mogadishu - UPI
A car bomb exploded near Somalia's national intelligence headquarters Thursday, killing at least nine people, mostly soldiers, a security official said.
Spokesman Idris Aden said at least seven people, all civilians, were injured when the car parked in front of a restaurant exploded, CNN said.
The restaurant is popular with Somali security forces, officials said.
Mogadishu has been rocked by scattered bombings this year and the militant al-Shabaab has routinely claimed responsibility for the attacks, CNN said.
The group, designated a terrorist organization by the United States, has launched attacks in other countries, such as Kenya and Uganda, in which dozens have been killed.
