Sheikha Al Moalla stressed that DEC always keens to collaborate with several departments to introduce critical initiatives and policy recommendations to cope with the recent initiatives launched by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to turn Dubai the most innovative city in the world, and per the guidelines of Dubai Plan 2021.
Al Moalla's statement comes post the Dubai Government Achievements Exhibition (DGAE) 2015 that concluded last Wednesday in line with the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, held under the theme, ‘Local Government and Global Achievements,' and organised by the Dubai Government Excellence Programme, DGEP, which is part of the Secretariat General of the Dubai Executive Council, from 30th March to 1st April.
She also stated that DEC has partaken at the Exhibition in an interactive stand to showcase its key achievements in the field of innovation and interactive initiatives as part of its vision as a strategic partner of the Government of Dubai's economic decision-making process.
Al Moalla noted that the council's involvement in the exhibition is linked to its strategy of supporting positive enablers of economic policies, and hailed it as an important event not only to showcase achievements, but also to exchange experiences and share other success stories.
"The DEC stand climbed new heights of success when a massive number of individuals, officials and representatives of business community, were impressive by the critical initiatives and projects accomplished by the DEC last year", Sheikha Mona Al Moalla added.
Sheikha Mona said that the DEC pavilion featured a number of digital panels using the latest technology solutions, a reflection of DEC's keenness to implement government initiatives, particularly ‘Smart government' and transform Dubai into a ‘Smart City'. These panels showcased achievements of DEC, such as the issuing of policy reports, books and working papers on important research and analysis of the economy of Dubai and the UAE, in addition to visual materials celebrating achievements and featuring interviews with some DEC officials.
The stand also contained various modern modes of social networking. It also featured documents and images of projects and partnerships between DEC with local and global decision-making bodies as well as images of association with global studies centres, and international companies.
Sheikha Al Moalla stated that DEC has made many achievements during the year 2014 and awarded a number of certificates of appreciation. Among these initiatives "International trade finance Initiative to promote sustainable economic development in Dubai" in strategic partnership with a number of export credit agencies (ECAs), such as the U.S. Exim Bank, as well as major international financial institutions, such as "Deutsche Bank" and "Standard Chartered", in addition to the financial services providers, e.g., FIIC among others. This is a critical initiative for major local companies to implement their future projects by taking advantage of the credit facilities provided by the stated institutions.
Other initiative caters Dubai's Government initiative to be the most innovative city in the world, in strategic partnership with "Phillips". This is the first-of-its-kind in the UAE and the region. It stems from a series of initiatives launched by the government of Dubai last year to establish the concept of innovation in the economy of Dubai, and compatible with Dubai 2021 plan, and the "National Strategy for Innovation."
The third initiative displayed was "Dubai Excellence Centre" launched in partnership with the "Tech Mahindra"-a global leader in the innovative IT services provision. The centre aims to adopt and test the innovative ideas and provide solutions to various government departments in their bid to shift to smart government, and in compliance with the best international practices. This initiative comes in terms of the "Smart City" and "smart government" initiatives launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid last year to turn Dubai into one of the smartest cities in the world.
