Iraqi President Fuad Masum stressed on Sunday the importance of cooperation among Arab and Islamic countries.

During a meeting with Speaker of the Arab Parliament Ahmed al Jarwan, Masum noted that his country will organize an Arab inter-parliamentary conference in the coming period to narrow gaps between Arab and Islamic countries in light of challenges threatening the region.

Iraq is keen on bolstering ties with all Arab countries, he said.

Jarwan, for his part, said Iraq plays an important role in solving issues of Arab countries.

He stressed that Arab peoples support Iraq in its fierce fight against Daesh terrorist group.
