Jordan receives 289 Syrian refugees within 24 hours

A total of 289 new Syrian refugees from various age groups, entered into Jordan during the last 24 hours, a military source said on Tuesday.

The source said border guards provided the refugees with the necessary aid before transferring them to refugee camps.

The Jordanian Royal Medical Services' personnel administered first aid to the patient of refugees through their medical centers at the borders, the source added.

More than 640,000 Syrian refugees are registered with the UN High Commission for Refugees in the kingdom, while Jordanian officials estimate them as more than 1.3 million, including 750,000 already in Jordan before the incidents in Syria.
