King accepts credentials of newly appointed envoys

 His Majesty King Abdullah II on Sunday accepted credentials of a number of newly appointed ambassadors to Jordan, during a ceremony held at the Basman Palace.

At the ceremony, King Abdullah received the credentials of Austrian ambassador, Michael Desser, Nafsika Krousti of Cyprus, non-resident envoy of Denmark Svend Waever, Pan Weifang of China, Safiah Al-Saheel of Iraq, Singaporean non-resident ambassador Shamsher Zaman, non-resident ambassador of Peru Hugo Portugal and the non-resident ambassador of Belarus Aleksandr L. Ponomarev.

Arriving at the Basman Palace for the ceremony, the King reviewed the guard of honour as a military band played the national anthems of Jordan and the ambassadors' respective countries.

The diplomats laid wreaths on the tombs of King Hussein Bin Talal, King Abdullah I and King Talal Bin Abdullah.

Royal Court chief, minister of tourism and antiquities and acting foreign minister attended the ceremony.
