Kuwait - KUNA
The Kuwait Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies (KIJS) will host the sixth regional conference of the Arab judiciary and public prosecution members on the international humanitarian law (IHL) on Sunday, January 18, (KIJS) Advisor Adel Al-Issa said Wednesday.
The conference will be held under the auspices of Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Yaqoub Al-Sanea to promote awareness about the international humanitarian law and debate the challenges facing its implementation, Al-Issa told KUNA.
The gathering, being organized in coordination with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), provides an opportunity for the judiciary and the public prosecution members of the Arab countries and the GCC member states to discuss the latest developments in the humanitarian law enforcement, he added.
The training focuses on the international humanitarian law and how to adapt the national legislations with it, he said, noting that a large number of law experts, academics and judges from the ICRC and the Arab countries will take part in the event.
The event gains additional significance as it coincides with an active movement to promote and protect the basic human rights on the regional and international scales as well as the ongoing armed conflicts in several parts of the Arab region, he added.
