Prime Minister: Expos to be held nationwide to meet high demand during Ramadan

Prime Minister Sherif Ismail said on Tuesday the government is set to hold exhibitions nationwide to cover the high demand on commodities during the holy month of Ramadan

During a ministerial meeting that tackled readying the market for the fasting month, Ismail said a number of trade zones and consumables' exhibitions would be held to bridge the expected gap of demands, Cabinet Spokesman Hossam el Qawish said.

Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Khaled Hanafi reviewed a report on the preparatory measures adopted by the government to carry out a new initiative dubbed "Welcome Ramadan" which is planned to be sponsored by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

As part of the plan, convoys would be dispatched to the remote areas to provide basic commodities, the minister told the meeting.

Islam's holy month prompts rise of prices of basic goods as the demand soars at the beginning of the month during which Muslims fast from dawn to dusk and gather for banquets to break their daily fast.
