Speaker of Saudi Shura Council Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-sheikh

Speaker of Saudi Shura Council Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-sheikh on Sunday hailed as "historic" the Saudi-Egyptian relations.

These profound relations were embodied by the current state visit of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to Egypt and his meeting with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in Cairo, SPA news agency quoted Al-sheikh as saying.

In a press statement, he also praised the contents of the speech delivered by the monarch at the Egyptian parliament, citing the King's call for officials in the two countries to shoulder responsibilities towards the service of their peoples and cooperate to put the joint objectives to realities.

He said the Shura Council of Saudi Arabia considers the King's speech before the Egyptian parliament a lightening model of its parliamentary ties with the Egyptian Parliament.

He pointed to the King's call for Arab and Islamic solidarity, calling the decision to build a bridge between the two countries across the Red Sea a landmark in the ties between the two countries.

Al-Sheikh also drew the attention to the outcome of the King's visit to Al Azhar University.
