A White House medical delegation late Wednesday visited the new Al-Zarqa public hospital which has a number of medical specialties to treat different types of health problems.

The hospital Director, Bassam Al-Shloul, said the facility operates at 80 percent occupancy rate, as it serves a number of nearby governorates, adding that air medical services using helicopter to move patients to and from hospital and accident scenes has been introduced.

The new three-storey hospital, which extends over an area of 112 dunums, constructed on 54, 000 meters square of land, provides nurses' dormitory, parking lots as well as courtyards, a number of which, are planted with trees.

A number of procedures were taken to improve services provided for the citizens, he explained, adding that a new consultation council representing the governorate's residents, has been formed to follow up citizen's complaints and medical needs, he said.

Another committee was formed to make fast decisions and eliminate work bureaucracy in the facility to provide better services for patients, he added .

Shloul revealed that the new hospital will provide medical internship and health training for students of medicine from the Al-Hashemite University .
