Dr. Carolina Othman explained that polycystic ovarian disease affects the ovaries, due to of a hormonal imbalance in the body. "It is sometimes associated with several symptoms that appear together on the patient and the so-called PCOS, such as menstrual cycle disorders, increased body weight and the appearance of coarse hair in different parts of the woman's body," she said, adding that sometimes the disease has no symptoms and can be discovered accidentally during the routine examination of the patient.

"This is a very common gender disease, with a country-to-country incidence and overall incidence rate of 5-10%," Dr. Othman said. She added that the real causes of the emergence of the disease is unknown and believed that there is a genetic nature of the disease.
The most common age of the disease is in the teenage years where there is a rapid increase in weight in this age and rapid hormonal changes.

The doctor said that some studies have shown that the effectiveness of insulin is relevant, and some medications, such as epilepsy, lead to these symptoms.
 
"We have already mentioned that the symptoms of the disease is very different and can be detected by accident during the periodic examination of the patient and its diagnosed based on the image of the ovary, she added.

The doctor confirmed that this disease causes an increase in the incidence of acne, skin becomes greasy, and drop because of the high hormone of repeated projection in the body. PCOS may be associated with increased blood pressure and diabetes.

She indicated that the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome is associated with its symptoms, as there is no cure for the disease. First, menstrual disorders: This can be treated using pills or progesterone pills regularly with the use of Metformine pills.

Othman stressed the importance of using diets and exercise sports to lose weight in order to balance this hormonal disorder.
