The Moroccan team

According to the results of the draw of the Nations African Championship (CHAN), the Moroccan national team of local players has been placed in Group A along with Guinea, Sudan and Mauritania.

The Moroccan team will play all its matches in the emblematic Mohammed V stadium. Morocco will play Mauritania in the opening of the competition on January 13 in Casablanca. Group B will play in Marrakech stadium, Group C in Tangier stadium and Group C n Agadir stadium.

The fourth groups of the competition are as follows:

(Group A): Morocco, Guinea, Sudan and Mauritania.

(Group B): Côte d’Ivoire, Zambia, Uganda and Namibia.

(Group C): Libya, Nigeria, Rwanda and Equatorial Guinea.

(group D): Angola, Cameroon, Congo and Burkina Faso.

The draw was carried out this Friday night by Amr Fahmy, freshly named secretary general of CAF and Mustapha Hadji, former player of the Moroccan national team and current assistant to Morocco’s head coach Hervé Renard.

The tournament will take place between January 13 and February 4, 2018.

Morocco was chosen to host the 2018 CHAN after Kenya was stripped of its rights to host the continental tournament due to lack of infrastructure.
