Australia beat Sri Lanka by 125 runs in the first Test in Galle on Saturday to take the lead in the three-match series.
Sri Lanka, set a victory target of 379, were dismissed for 253 in their second innings during the afternoon session on the fourth day after resuming on their overnight score of 120-5.
The second Test starts in Pallekele on September 8.
