Oman Air passengers to be flown home from Bangkok

An Oman Air flight scheduled to leave Bangkok for Muscat was cancelled on Friday after a technical glitch, leaving passengers stuck for two days before alternative flights could be found, according to the airline.

According to an Oman Air source, the plane was supposed to travel from Medina to Muscat to Bangok, but couldn’t reach Bangok to pick up passengers due to 'technical glitches'. All the other flights out of Bangkok were fully booked, but Oman Air has been accommodating the passengers since Friday and staff were also available to assist stranded passengers.

“Our solution is to distribute the passengers on other chartered flights, which we have shared on social media,” the source said.

According to Oman Air's official twitter account, 192 passengers will be travelling back to Muscat through five alternative routes.

"All guests that were booked on Oman Air flight WY812, 25th August, from Bangkok to Muscat were accommodated in the hotel and all services to ensure their comfort was provided. Despite all airlines out of Bangkok being fully booked, Oman Air has made the following alternative arrangements to bring our guests back to Muscat."

"Ninety-two (92) guests will be travelling through Thai Airways on the 27th, 12 on Etihad Airways, 12 more on Jet Airways, 74 more on Thai Airways, two passengers on Qatar Airways and four passengers on Air India. "

"Oman Air is closely following the situation of guests in Bangkok following the cancellation of flight number WY812 scheduled for Muscat from Bangkok on August 25, where the airline is working on taking appropriate solutions to transport the passengers through an alternative airline company to specific points within Oman Air network, and to provide connecting flights from those interfaces and Muscat," Oman Air said.

The airline thanked passengers for their understanding and cooperation on this matter and added that it was out of the airline's control.
