More than a decade after Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling had movie audiences swooning with The Notebook, the CW announced it is working on a television adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks book.
Mark Pedowitz, president of network, told reporters Tuesday the project is in the works.
Entertainment Weekly reported Executive Producer Todd Graff will also write the script, along with Sparks and Theresa Park.
The official synopsis says "This series will follow the romantic journey of the two beloved central characters Noah and Allie, at the outset of their blossoming relationship as they build their lives and their future together against the backdrop of the racial politics, economic inequities, and social mores of post-World War II of the late 1940s in North Carolina."
Pedowitz said the television series, if greenlit, will be a bit different from the movie.
"I don't believe you are going to see the older couple" he said.
