Seventy four percent of women in the Middle East spend over 12 hours a day on activities related to the wellbeing of their families, according to a recent survey.
The survey, conducted by Centerpoint food and clothing retail chain, found they spent most of their time caring for their family members and doing household chores such as cooking and cleaning.
Shyam Sunder, the company’s head of marketing, said that the survey highlighted just how much “effort, care and time they put in to making our lives better.” The company has launched a campaign, #BetterWithYou, to highlight the achievements of women and to reward them with discounts, he said.
Survey respondents came from nine of the company’s territories in the region, predominantly in the 20 to 35 age group, with 88 percent stating they were married and 82 percent that they had children.
The company collaborated with prominent regional designer and Arab influencer, Deanna Khalil, to co-create content that highlighted women’s aspirations. “Women are the driving force that keeps the world well-oiled and running smoothly.” She said this includes nannies, nurses, doctors, teachers, lawyers, accountants and businesswomen.
