Vin Diesel covered Sam Smith hit "Stay with Me" earlier this week.
The 47-year-old actor performed the oddly moving rendition during an interview with Capital FM. Vin Diesel visited the station to promote his new movie, Guardians of the Galaxy, and sang the cover without previous rehearsal.
Vin Diesel capitalizes on his deep, gravelly voice to bring the character Groot to life in Guardians, but was able to hit the high and low notes of the song. "I don't know how I did that," the star laughed after he finished the performance.
Sam Smith caught wind of the cover, and appeared to enjoy Vin Diesel's version. "Vin diesel just covered Stay With Me," he tweeted Wednesday. "Surreal. Thanks man haha."
Guardians of the Galaxy opens August 1, and co-stars Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, and Bradley Cooper as Rocket.
