Krim Belkacem
Algiers - APS

“Krim Belkacem,” which is an eponymous historical fiction directed by Ahmed Rachedi and devoted to the revolutionary and political career of one of the Algerian liberation war’s symbols and one of the main negotiators in the Evian Accords, was previewed Thursday in Algiers.
Lasting 150 minutes, this film was produced by the Ministry of Mujahedeen (war veterans) on a script co-written by Ahmed Rachedi, Boukhalfa Amazit and commander Azzeddine with the participation of the national centre of studies and research on the national movement and revolution of 1 November 1954.
It is about Krim Belkacem’s career from the end of the second World War to which he participated before returning to his native village of Oued Ksari where his father was kaid, and his departure to Draa El Mizan and his involvement in the ranks of the Algerian people party.
Active militant, Krim Belkacem was chased in 1947 for offence against the sovereignty of the State and joined the resistance movement before being sentenced to death for an ambush against the Kaid, his own cousin.
The fiction also shows Krim Belkacem’s role in the provisional government of the Algerian Republic (GPRA) where he was a minister of defence and in the Evian negotiations.
