Tehran - Tehran
The hit novel “Missing Rose” by Turkish author Serdar Özkan went straight to number one on the bestseller list at the Hamedan book fair which runs from July 13 to 21. Özkan’s debut novel sold more than 400 copies at the book fair in the hometown of Behruz Deyjurian, the translator of the book into Persian. The third edition of the book to be released by the Amut Publications will appear on the Iranian book market in the near future. In an interview with the Persian service of the Mehr News Agency, Deyjurian pointed to the “simplicity” and “fluency” of the Persian translation as two important factors for the warm welcoming of the book by Iranians. “Although the spiritual, humanistic, and psychological concepts of the book cannot be overlooked,” he added. Deyjurian, who previously translated Rhonda Byrne’s “The Secret”, announced that he will be translating a second novel by Özkan entitled “When Life Lights Up” in the near future. “Missing Rose” narrates the story of Diana, a young woman whose desire for the approval and praise of others has caused her to let go of her own dreams and values. The book has sold in over 30 countries worldwide including Holland, Italy, Germany, Finland, Slovenia, Japan, Korea, Spain, Brazil, Bulgaria, France, Romania, Greece, Russia, Croatia, Lebanon, Canada, Hungary, Portugal and the Czech Republic. Since 2002, Serdar has been a full-time novelist dedicated to writing novels that unravel the deeper meaning of life’s journey.
