Aden - Hossam Al Kherbash

A state of political and security chaos dominates the Yemeni city of Taiz due to the growing role of gangs politically used by Reform Party, loyal to Muslim Brotherhood, as it uses its media platforms to attack the components of Yemeni resistance that do not affiliate to the group.
According to sources, Muslim Brotherhood works to provide support for armed gangs working to steal the citizens and to share profits with the traders. They use the financial gains to pay for the military leaders, loyal to the group, working with the Yemeni army. The group also provided financial support for the gangs targeting the Salafist leaders, including Aboul Abbas militias.
A Yemeni gang, known as “Ghazwan Al Mekhlafi” gang, attacked Aboul Abbas in January and arrested him. The action raised the chaos between the gang sponsored by the group and other factions loyal to the Salafist leader, pushing the Yemeni presidency to send a committee to discuss the ways to contain the crisis witnessed in the city.
The committee decided to commit the gang to surrender the Salafist leader to the security authorities to be arrested, and to release leading member of Salafist militias Radwan Kawati, who has been kidnapped by the gang during his existence in the hospital to receive treatment in return for surrendering the gang’s leader to the security authorities.
On his hand, Aboul Abbas expressed his commitment to the solutions drafted by the Yemeni presidential committee, as he was surrendered to the security forces and Kawati was released, in return for surrendering the gang leader Ghazwan to the authorities.
However, leaders of Muslim Brotherhood used their influence in the circles of Yemeni authorities to release Ghazwan and number of his militants, as they attacked Aboul Abbas militias. They killed a number of militants and civilians during their attack.
According to sources, Ghazwan and his brother Soheib are still free as they take shelter in the areas controlled by Muslim Brotherhood. They resume their criminal actions in Taiz, attacking a local market in the city last week. They killed four civilians and injured others.
On its hand, Nasserite Party rebuked the current chaos witnessed in Taiz, blaming the city’s security forces for the state of insecurity witnessed in the city. It added that what is happening is a result of manipulating the process to merge the elements of Yemeni resistance loyal to the legitimate government with the army. It added that the process has not subjected to any objective or military standards.
In the same context, Yemeni activist Mohamed Al Ebssi described Muslim Brotherhood as mafia which adopts opportunistic approach to achieve political gains and to blackmail their rivals. He added that they use the criminal gangs to achieve financial gains at the expense of the country’s security and stability.
He revealed that the group plans to impose its control on the state institutions, including the security and military establishments, saying that they turn to raise chaos to marginalize its political rivals, including the Salafists and Nasserites.
