The Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) will hold a press conference tomorrow (Tuesday) to announce details of the 35th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF).

The press conference will take place at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Sharjah Expo Centre, and will be held in the presence of HE Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, Chairman of SBA, HE Abdul Aziz Taryam, CEO Advisor and General Manager of Etisalat Northern Emirates, HE Khalid Al Midfa, Director General of Sharjah Media Corporation.

This year, the press conference recalls the first memories of SIBF and the history of its inception. It is taking place in a tent similar to the old Expo Centre in Sharjah which witnessed the first editions of SIBF being held in the 1980s. The aim is to illustrate and reflect on how far SIBF has come and how much it has achieved over the past three and a half decades.

Organisers will unveil the activities and programmes at SIBF including the professional programme, Cultural Programme, the kid’s Programme, the Cultural Café, and the Cookery Corner Programme. They will also announce key cultural, intellectual and media personalities from around the world who will be participating. Details of many of the publishing houses, officials and cultural entities will be revealed as well.

The Sharjah Book Authority is delighted to invite media representatives, publishers, authors, and those who are interested in the details of SIBF’s activities for this year, to attend the press conference.

Each year SIBF introduces a rich programme of events and activities that are designed to cater to all community segments, including residents and visitors. The Fair will open daily from early morning until late at night during its 11-day run, bringing together authors, publishers, readers, literary stakeholders, celebrities and cultural ambassadors all under one roof.
