
Under the supervision of Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities , the Writers Union and under the slogan “ The Narrator is a writer “ holds its second conference from 5 to 6 May .
Deputy Secretary-General of the union, Alia Taleb said that ,this conference is a sequel to the previous one ,and it will be under the name “ Narration Conference” to include the short story in the conference’s agenda , adding that more than 1000 invited guests besides the 20 researchers from Kurdistan Region will participate , in attempt to achieve intellectual rapprochement between the critic and the writer .
She pointed out the leading role of Kurdish writer Abdul Majid Lutfi , as he is one of the founders of the union ,and along with his fellow writers established the fundamentals of the short story ,so the conference will be under his name to honour his career.
She said that the conference’s agenda is to discuss 4 subjects ,first , the characteristics of the new Iraqi novel including , Fantasy, arts, narration and freedom . Secondly, short novel, long story, Biography, and Irony in the new novel . Then, the existence of Eros in in novels and stories, narrative construction ,language and the development of narrative techniques. Finally, the criticism of the Contemporary Iraqi Novel .
The Iraqi novel had witnessed great change and got more attention in the last few years ,and it had its audience in the Arab region and abroad.
The narrator Abdul Majeed Lutfi witnessed cruel living circumstances ,which made him reflect all that in more than 20 book varied between novels, stories, plays and poems collections ,along with a lot of articles ,studies and critical reviews . Few of his first books were “Echoes of time” published in 1938 ,and “The Mother’s heart” which included 4 translated stories .His last book was written in Kurdish and published in 1988 under the name “ The prophecy of the Gypsy Sage” .
