Concrete house
London - Arab Today
Concrete house BAK Architects designed this volumetric house with industrial features close the beach of a tranquil seaside village, in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. Only a few meters away of the sandy dunes, the construction was strategically placed to offer a relaxing living experience, away from the ordinary. With the sea on one side and a strip of forest on the other, there’s nothing to distract you from enjoying the nature’s wonders. There are no buildings around, only small vegetation, acacias and sand. Elevated above the natural line of the plot, the structure frames some of the most amazing views of the sea’s emerald water.
The owners, a young couple with three children asked for a spacious house made of concrete. Their choice in terms of materials has a practical reasoning (low maintenance). Also, they confessed that they loved the raw, almost unfinished appearance of all those other residential projects designed by the team of architects. Their house had to be divided in two different living units, one for the family and one for the guests. With a minimum intervention in the landscape, the team found a solution in reaching, visually, the sea. The main floor, right above the street level, features a living room with integrated kitchen, a wooden deck and two bedrooms (for the children). The top floor of the house accommodates a generously lit master bedroom (with impressive vistas) and a large terrace.
