Khartoum - Abed Algayoum Ashmeag

The Sudanese and South Sudanese governments on Tuesday managed to sign a few agreements at a summit in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, which hosted the third round of negotiations between the two countries since their separation. Sudanese media minister Sanaa Hamad has told the Sudanese News Agency (SUNA) that both countries agreed to set up a joint ministerial committee to follow the issues of each country's citizens who live in the other's country. The two countries also agreed on the technical basis of demarcating their borders. On the thorny issue of oil, minister Hamad said both countries have delayed discussing it but have promised to base future talks on "mutual interests". Hamad added that the two countries have agreed to hold a summit between Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir and South Sudanese President Salva Kiir in the Southern capital Juba in a few weeks. It was also agreed to set up a joint military committee headed by the defence ministers of both countries to regulate mutual security issues.
