Abul Gheit, UN envoy to Yemen review details of ceasefire in Yemen

UN Special Envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed reviewed with Arab League (AL) Secretary-General Ahmed Abul Gheit the details of the inter-Yemeni truce, to come into effect as of midnight Wednesday.

The UN envoy on Wednesday briefed Abul Gheit, during a phone call, on the outcome of his latest contacts with Yemeni, regional and international parties concerned.

The contact came within the framework of the secretary-general's close follow up of the latest developments in Yemen, Abul Gheit's Spokesman Minister Plenipotentiary Mahmoud Afifi said in a statement. 

Abul Gheit, for his part, praised the efforts exerted by Cheikh Ahmed, hoping that the suggested truce would succeed and that all parties in Yemen would hammer out a suitable settlement for the ongoing crisis in the war-torn country, Afifi added.
