
Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el Tayyeb has stressed the importance of making peace among the clerics of all religions to achieve prosperity in the world.
During a meeting with a delegation of the Swedish church on Monday, he expressed Al Azhar's keenness on communication with churches and all religious institutions around the world.
He pointed out to Al Azhar's contacts with the church of Canterbury, the Vatican, the World Council of Churches and other religious institutions to achieve peace and bring a smile on the face of the poor and orphans.
The Grand Imam praised coexistence between Muslims and Christians in Egypt, saying Al Azhar and the Egyptian church agreed to offer the example of the family home, which brings Muslim and Christian clerics together, to the world.
For her part, the head of the Swedish delegation praised Al Azhar role in spreading peace and confronting extremism, terrorism and crimes, pointing out that all religions are innocent of violence and crimes.
