Wang Chun'an, former Communist Party of China chief of Linzhou City in central China's Henan Province, was given 12 years in prison for accepting bribes, a local court said Monday.
The People's Court of Fanxian county, also in Henan, said Wang had accepted 11.21 million yuan (1.62 million U.S. dollars) and 105,000 U.S. dollars in bribery from 2004 to 2013, in return for the favorable handling of construction projects, promotion, employment and land purchase.
Wang was also fined 1 million yuan by the court.
Most of his illegal gains were recovered before or during the trial, according to the court.
Wang accepted the ruling.
