Standing NATO Maritime Group One (SNMG1) has made a port visit in Tallinn, Estonia, as part of NATO naval force's deployment to the north and Baltic Sea to enhance maritime security, NATO announced in a press release Tuesday.
SNMG1's visit to Tallinn followed its participation in the multinational exercise Baltic Fortress 16, which brought together SNMG1, Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group One (SNMCMG1), as well as Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian navies to practice interoperability.
SNMG1 and SNMCMG1 are two of NATO's four maritime forces composed of vessels from allied countries.
"This successful port visit to Tallinn provided a unique opportunity to demonstrate the capabilities of maritime NATO, and to show NATO's cohesion and resolve to collective defence," said Spanish Rear Adm. Delgado, commander of SNMG1.
