
Foreign ministry spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid said minister Sameh Shoukri held a meeting this morning with Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiation Johannes Hahn.
The meeting tackled relations between Egypt and the European Union and ways to boost common interests in political and economic fields and means to coordinate on illegal migration.
The meeting touched upon the important regional issues, notably situations in Syria, Libya, Yemen and Iraq.
The minister stressed the Egyptian stance over the Syrian crisis, especially the humanitarian
dimension of the conflict and keenness on delivering humanitarian aid to the civilians.
The minister discussed the Egyptian efforts exerted to revive negotiations between Palestinians and Israel.
He also reviewed the internal developments during the last period in Egypt, the progress made in democratic process and economic situation in light of the reform program expected to be carried out between Egypt and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
