
UAE Ambassador to Mauritania, Isa Abdullah Masoud Al Kalbani, today attended the opening of the Conference on the Role of Sunni Scholars in Fighting Terrorism and Extremism.
The two-day event is being organised by the Mauritanian Minister of Islamic Affairs and Religious Education in co-operation with Muslim World League.
The conference, held at the Convention Centre (Palais des Congres) in Nouakchott, was attended by President of Mauritania Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, ministers, a number of military and police commanders and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to Mauritania.
In his speech on the occasion, President Abdel Aziz said that in its fight against terrorism, Mauritania has a vision which is not confined to a security solution but takes into account the ideological side as well.
A number of Mauritanian and Arab scholars attended the event.
