At least one civilian was killed and six were injured in an attack on a Kabul compound belonging to the charity Care International, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry said Tuesday.
A security source also said that Afghan security forces were still trying to enter the compound, where militants have taken hostages. Gunfire erupted when armed men stormed the building of the humanitarian organization Care in the Shar-e-Naw area following a car bomb explosion.
Three attackers were killed. No group has admitted carrying out the attack. Earlier, a series of blasts left at least 24 people dead, including senior officers, and nearly 100 others wounded. The Taliban, who have carried out frequent attacks in Kabul, said they were responsible for the blasts.
