Kuwait - Arab Today

Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Yaqoub Al-Sanea said here on Monday that Kuwait's political leadership is interested in women's affairs by ensuring their political rights and involving them in governmental posts.
In his opening speech at a development conference on woman, Minister Al-Sanea said that His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah spares no effort to create a health atmosphere to develop women's capabilities.
The minister voiced his hope that the conference could make a success, saying it has a host of important topics aimed at building women in the Arab and Gulf countries and protecting them from distorted ideological trends.
For his part, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr. Adel Al-Falah said that woman has a significant and constructive role in all domains.
He pointed out that the ministry provided woman with Islamic culture to help her understand rights, duties and and shoulder responsibilities to participate in progressing the society.
For her part, professor of School of Sociology and Social Policy at Umm Al-Qura University Talha H. Fadaak said that the conference comes in the social, economic, intellectual and cultural contexts that form social building, especially in this historical phase that the Arab and Islamic countries face.
These contexts, she added, need an analysis and their components should be reconsidered according to advance and development of society economically and technologically.
A galaxy of local and regional researchers from Kuwait and other countries are participating in the conference.
