
A strong earthquake measuring 7.2 magnitude has hit near the Fiji Islands, causing a tsunami warning for parts of the Pacific Ocean.
The US Geological Survey said the earthquake hit a part of the ocean about 227 kilometres southwest of Nadi. The agency said the quake is centred at a depth of 10 kilometres, and a tsunami warning has been issued for parts of the Pacific located within 300 kilometres of the quake.
