Egyptian Navy celebrates arrival of first Type-209/1400 submarine
Alexandria - Arab Today
The Egyptian Navy held a celebration on Wednesday to mark the arrival of Germany's first Type-209/1400 submarine in the Egyptian territorial waters in Alexandria city.
The submarine with the latest technology installed for this type of vessel will join the Egyptian Navy.
The submarine can sail for 11,000 miles with a speed of 21 knots. Its length is 60-73 meters. Missiles and torpedoes can be launched through the submarine.
On December 10, 2015, ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) announced the building of the first of four Type 209/1400 submarines for Egypt is at its Kiel yard.
