Deputy Head of Information at the Interior Ministry Alaa Mahmoud has said all the ministry’s departments have been placed in maximum operational readiness ahead of planned protests by the Salafist Front on Friday.
Any attempts to spread chaos and violence will not be tolerated, he told CBC TV channel over the phone on Wednesday.
He added that who will get involved in violent acts will face military trials.
Mahmoud called on people to avoid all protests, political gatherings, demonstrations and marches.
Protests have been called across Egypt on Friday by a lesser known group, the Salafist Front, with some calls for violence.
