
The Kuwaiti diplomatic mission in Bulgaria has held a grand reception grouping dignitaries and diplomats, on the occasion of Kuwait's National Days.
Kuwait's Ambassador to Bulgaria Faisal Al-Adwani, who hosted the eminent personalities to celebrate Kuwait 54th Independence Anniversary and the 24th Liberation Day, stated, "this happy occasion comes in shadow of progress, construction and prosperity witnessed in Kuwait." Celebrating these national occasions depict the Kuwaiti citizens' solidarity, adherence to freedoms, "our sovereignty, under the sagacious leadership, represented by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah," he said.
The ambassador said his eminent guests were entertained with folkloric shows, adding that the reception hall included a pavilion displaying books and documents about Kuwait's history and modern-time development. He also hailed the distinguished ties between Kuwait and Bulgaria.
Also on the occasion, the ambassador expressed congratulations on the national occasions to Their Highnesses, the Amir, the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, as well as to the Kuwaiti people, wishing further progress, prosperity and stability "for our beloved homeland." The gathering included leading figures, namely the Bulgarian deputy parliament speaker, foreign ministry officials, legislators, the mufti, diplomats, public figures including renowned Arab personalities.
Kuwait celebrates the National, or Independence, Day, on February 25th, and the Day of Liberation the next day, that is when the country was liberated from the Iraqi occupation that began on August 2, 1990, when troops of the executed Iraqi ruler, Saddam Hussein, invaded the country.
