The Lebanese Army said Saturday night that its troops regained full control over Wadi Hmeid in the northeastern town of Ersal after clashes with a large group of foreign gunmen.
The Army units are tracking down the gunmen while artillery is pounding the hilltops that the gunmen took control of earlier today, NNA reported, citing a military statement.
The two members of the Internal Security Forces who were freed from captivity have been moved to a field hospital set up by the Army.
The battle, still going on against fighters of various nationalities resulted in a yet-to-be-specified number of casualties on both sides.
