Cairo Governor Galal Mostafa Saeed said on Thursday that the up and down lanes of Mokattam road will be closed to traffic for specific hours on Friday and Saturday to remove the hanging rocks on the hill.
The closure will come into effect from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on both days, he added.
The closure decision was taken by the technical committee set to examine the rocky ledge of the Mokattam hill.
The move aims at removing and trimming rocks likely to fall down to maintain citizens' life and public and private properties, he said.
