The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) spokesman, Jihad Momani, announced that all polling stations across the Kingdom were closed at 8 p.m, after extending the vote at some constituencies for an hour.
In a press conference held Tuesday evening, Momani said IEC board of commissioners decided not to extend the voting process and closed the polling stations, noting that a number of ballot boxes were not closed due to the large number of citizens in some polling stations, who will continue casting votes until the voting process is over, Jordan Petra news agency reported.
The IEC decided to extend the voting for an hour in the all the capital constituencies as well as in the governorates of Irbid, Jerash, Ajloun, the first and second constituencies of Zarqa; because of high turnout in these constituencies. The elections law allows to extend the voting for two hours.
